That is what experts say is possible in the near future.
Trillions of dollars are spent every year in the building our shared environment.
I have not been able to find the quote but I think it was Eli Whitney that said, "The greater the use of an invention to mankind the less use it is to the inventor."
That seems to apply to affordable housing to me, yet we have based our economy on the strength of our housing industry.
Our economy is transforming as are our valuations of our attachments to traditional means of transportation and communication. The infrastructure that connects us has been revolutionized within our lifetime. As this continues we will also see dramatic revolution in housing...
science, religion and politics seem destined to mimic the beauty and diversification of nature as close as humanly possible. With that as our mindset we can employ our masses with dignity and hope. Our goals are simple. A dignified access to 1.5 gallons water, 2,000 nutritional calories, 200 cubic feet secure tenure to individuals as they exist within a shared environment.
Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Most of us probably give thanks every day for the all the abundance we enjoy , and on Thanksgiving day , we are reminded of just how much abundance that is,or isn't. The American culture has become one of excess and assumed entitlement. While we are wondering if we will ever be able to sell our homes without losing everything we've worked for, there are those in other countries , as well as our own, who are wondering if they will have food , water, and shelter today. Maybe our culture is starving too, from spiritual bankruptcy, self-serving government officials, greed,and lack of compassion... maybe not... maybe it's just the time for change to happen, and as we stand in the middle, it is hard to know where to start, or to see the impact our efforts actually have as they create ripples of awareness and possibility for solutions. I think these are growing pains in an effort to bring necessary change.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure our founding fathers would approve of what is and has been happening in America, but I am sure they would believe there is a solution, and would consider the ramifications of doing nothing.... American culture has many, many perfect imperfections, but lacking resources is not one of them. I am thankful today for all the brilliant minds who have come up with ingenious solutions to seemingly insurmountable problems throughout history... and for those who helped them see their solutions to fruition.
